MeDAP Installation, Backup, Recovery and Error Handling

 First MeDAP installation:

  1. Download the MeDAP Demo software from the MeDAP Website and save it to your desktop.
  2. Double-click on the downloaded file, follow the steps and complete the installation.
  3. The MeDAP Medical Software should now be installed on your computer.

Upgrade of an existing MeDAP Server (or single installation):

  1. Download the MeDAP Server (MeDAP.zip) from the download page and copy it to the C:MeDAP folder.
  2. D ouble-click on the C:\MeDAP\Install.bat file and continue installing the server version.
  3. Open the MeDAP program, fill in the Product ID, renew the License ID and the new version should now be installed on your PC / Server.  

Upgrade of an existing MeDAP Workstation (remote PC's, networked):

  1. Ensure that the server has been upgraded as mentioned above and the remote PC's M - drive has been mapped to the Server's C:\MeDAP shared foler.
  2. Download the MeDAP Workstation (MeDAPM.zip) from the download page and copy it to the C:MeDAP folder.
  3. Double-click on the C:\MeDAP\Install_m.bat file and continue installing the workstation version.
  4. Open the MeDAP program, fill in the Product ID and the new workstation version should now be installed on your remote PC / Workstation.

Backup! Backup! Backup!  Make regular backups in the following manner:   

  • A)  Daily Backup of the data on the Local Hard Drive as well as a Memory Stick (automatically done by the MeDAP PMA). 
  • B)  Weekly Backup of the C:\MeDAP, Medprax, QEDI and Liveedi folders on CD or external Hard drive. 
  • C)  Monthly backup of the C:\MeDAP, Medprax, QEDI and Liveedi folders on CD or external Hard drive.

To recover the MeDAP data if it has been corrupted due to an unexpected shutdown:

  1. In the C:\MeDAP folder, double-click on the MeDAPFix.mde and run the program if prompted.
  2. In the MeDAPfix program, on the menu bar, click on "Repair the MeDAP Database".
  3. Your system should be up and running - if not, do a recovery from backup.

To recover the MeDAP Application Program if it has been corrupted due to a power failure:

  1. In the C:\MeDAP folder, double-click on the Install.bat file and do the steps as prompted in the Command Window.
  2. Open the MeDAP program from the MeDAP icon on the desktop and proceed to the Licence ID window.
  3. Renew the License ID and proceed into the program
  4. From the Main Screen, click on the Database button, then Click on the Make Backup Button and Click on the Repair and Compact Data and -Archive buttons.
  5. Your system should be up and running. 

For a full recovery of the MeDAP Application Program and your data due to a PC crash / hard drive failure:

  1. Download the MeDAP Demo software from the MeDAP Website and save it to your desktop.
  2. Double-click on the MeDAPVXXX.exe file and complete the installation.
  3. Copy the MeDAP, Medprax, QEDI and Liveedi folders from your backup CD or HDD and overwrite the existing C:\MeDAP, C:\Medprax and C:\QEDI folders.
  4. Re-install the QEDI and Medprax programs.
  5. Your system should be up and running.

 

Error Handling:

Microsoft Jet Engine 4 Hotfix:

When entering data into the Dental Treatment Plan or Presciption subform, you receive a message that resemble the following:

  • The Microsoft Jet Database Engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.  When this problem occurs, #Error appears on your forms instead of the actual data.

     OR

When you run a complex query, you receive the following two error messages, and the MeDAP program exits:

  • Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Access. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. To see what data this error report contains, click here. (Click NO when receiving this message)
  • MeDAP Medical Software has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
